Gloria Jean Miles, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away December 19th, 2023. She was born March 18th, 1942, in Tampa, Florida, to parents Lowry and Betty Pauline Young.
She married the love of her life, Marlon Miles on December 31st, 1985. They shared many wonderful years together.
She worked as a letter carrier for USPS for 30 years before retiring in 2001. She was a valued member of the National Association of Letter Carriers.
Gloria was a kind, loving woman, and a true matriarch for her family. She had a wealth of knowledge in everything "craft". Gloria was a talented seamstress, making clothing for her children and grandchildren, and a skilled woodworker. Cake decorating brought her joy too, even baking cakes for family and friends' weddings. She enjoyed the challenge and creativity of stained glass as well.
She is survived by her husband Marlon S. Miles; her children Mark H. (Sherry K) Holt, John D. (Melissa) McCullough, H. Clifford (Nichole) McCullough II; eight grandchildren: Roxanna Shapouri, Christian (Randaleigh) Wilson, Paige (Aaron) Spurling, Daniel (Deb) McCullough, David McCullough, Brookley (Luken) Rigsbee, Carter McCullough, and Maggie McCullough; and four step-grandchildren Milissa (Colby) Smith, Hannah (Courtney) Miller, Andrew Miles, and Elena Perez; six great-grandchildren; and her brother, Lowry Russell Young.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters Joyce Wallace and Elouise Fender; and her daughter Colleen (Holt) Wilson.
Visitation for Gloria will be Friday December 22nd, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East from 1-2:30pm; her funeral will begin at 2:30pm. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
