Gloria B. Misnick
Age 92 of Corning, NY. She was born March 4, 1933 in Utica, NY, daughter of the late Joseph A. and Sarah (Stowe) Baz and passed away Monday, March 24, 2025 at home. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, William J. Misnick, Sr.; sons William J. (Stacey) Misnick, Jr and Edward J. (Mary) Misnick both of Corning, NY; grandchildren Joshua Carson, Damion Haight, Brittany Misnick and Natalia Misnick; sister Laurice Moses of Clinton, NY along with several nieces and nephews. Gloria graduated from Potsdam University with Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees. There is the Gloria B. Misnick Educational Scholarship at Potsdam, in her honor. She retired from the Corning-Painted Post School District with 35 years of teaching. She was a very active member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Corning Sister Cities – Corning, NY & Lviv, Ukraine. There is a Diabetic Children's Clinic in Ukraine named in their honor. Gloria was the National Commander for the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary for 3 years; volunteered at the Bath VA every Tuesday for over 10 years. She was very patriotic and a supporter for veterans. She supported the USO, Wounded Warrior Project, Boys Town and Ellis Island Foundation. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Thursday, March 27th from 4 to 7 pm. Parastas will be held at 7 pm. Prayers will be offered there on Friday, March 28th at 9:30 am, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 am in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. Rev. Teodor B. Czabala, Jr., Celebrant. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Gloria through donations to CareFirst, 3805 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post, NY 14870 or any Veteran organization.
