Gloria Rodriguez Olalde, 79 of Harker Heights, a cherished mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, was called home on March 16, 2025. She was a strong, independent, and amazing woman, strong in her faith, a wonderful friend, a fantastic mother, a loving and protective sister, and the best grandmother and great-grandmother. Caring for her family came naturally to Gloria and she will be deeply missed.
A visitation for Gloria will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 10:00 AM both events will be held at Agape Christian Center in Belton.
Gloria was born in San Antonio, Texas, on May 12, 1945 to Juan Q. and Margarita H. Rodriguez. She began working at the early age of 13 in the housekeeping industry, cleaning rooms for hotels and motels. After leaving housekeeping, she worked at a laundry and cleaners’ facility, always keeping busy. For 18 years, she worked faithfully at HEB as a maintenance worker and was beloved by her coworkers, managers, supervisors, and store directors. In the mid-1990s, Gloria resigned from her job and moved to San Antonio to care for her mother, who needed 24-hour care, remaining there until her mother’s passing in 2003. Gloria had a nurturing heart, especially for her immediate family.
She met her husband, Theodore Joseph Flores (Joe), at a sock hop dance. From this marriage, she had two daughters, Sandra and Betty. Although the marriage did not last, they remained friends until his death.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Sandra Burgos and Betty Jean Flores; her only granddaughter, Stacy Martinez (Jerome); two great-grandchildren, Christopher Scott and Aliyah Scott, whom she loved dearly; her faithful companion of 10 years, Terry Marquis Holifield; sister, Debbie Rodriguez Woods (Henry); brother, Lee H. Rodriguez (Daisy); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Juan Q. and Margarita H. Rodriguez; brothers, Pablo, Ed, Robert, and Walter Rodriguez; and sisters, Lupe Carreon, Amelia Sapien, and Esther Serrata.
