With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Gloria Jean Otis, 71, on Friday, May 9, 2025. A cherished resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Gloria lived a life filled with devotion, love, and music.
She was a proud graduate of Biloxi High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. As a longtime member of the Keesler Air Force Base Chapel, she faithfully served as a dedicated member of the Keesler Soul Choir, sharing her gift of song with the community. Ms. Otis was retired from NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center, where she received NASA’s Space Flight Awareness Program Award for outstanding job performance and contributions by civil service and contract employees, focused on excellence in quality and safety in support of human space flight.
Gloria was a beloved sister, aunt, and Gigi, whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Marcus and Bernice Otis.
She is survived by her siblings, Margaret Smith of Phoenix, AZ, Patricia Copeland (Ron) of Bonaire, GA, James Otis (Treva) of Biloxi, MS, Linda Otis of D’Iberville, MS, Antonio Otis (Leanne) of Los Angeles, CA. As well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, located at 1726 15th Street, Gulfport, MS 39501, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 11 a.m. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment to be at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Long Beach.
