Lynette Michelle "Redd" Green-Byars passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 60, surrounded by her friend and companion, following a lengthy illness. She was born on September 12, 1965, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Frank S. Green Sr. and Eva Gudiry Green. Everyone around her knew Lynette for her warmth and cheerful spirit.
A graduate of Riverdale High School, she furthered her education at Delgado Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi, demonstrating her intelligence and determination.
People cherished Lynette for her kind heart and contagious laughter. She genuinely loved people and always wanted to connect. She enjoyed playing poker as a means of bonding with friends and family, always bringing a lively energy to the room.
She is survived by her son, Lemar Green; sister, Lisa G. Franklin (Frank); brother, Nathan E. Green Sr. (Jacqueline); her friend and companion, Carlos Palmer; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends, and loved ones, including her poker family at Bogies.
Her loving husband, Darrell; her parents, Eva, and Frank; her sister, Mary, preceded her in death; her brothers, Nicholas Sr., Fred, and Frank Jr.; and her grandmother, Olive Doucet.
Lynette's love, kindness, and joy will never be forgotten and will continue to affect those she touched. May her memory be a source of solace to those
