Gloria Schmidt Obituary
Gloria I. Schmidt, 99, of Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin passed away at Prairie Maison Nursing Home on October 15, 2025. She was born on November, 16, 1925, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Louis and Jessie (Wachuta) Benish.
She married Ivan Schmidt in Prairie Du Chien on October 25, 1947. Before marriage, Gloria worked as a CNA at the local hospital. After marrying Ivan, she moved to a Farm in Patch Grove, WI where she resided until 1981. Over the years, she thoroughly enjoyed square dances with her siblings, fish on Friday nights, and playing cards.
She is survived by her son Jerry (Teresa) Schmidt of Prairie du Chien, Daughter-in-law Marie Schmidt of Fairhope, AL, Son-in-law Philip Hermsen of Amelia Island, FL, one brother, Robert Benish of LaCrosse, WI, 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ivan, daughter JoAnn, son Gary, and numerous brothers and sisters.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin is assisting the family with arrangements.
