Gloria “Judy” Scott, affectionately known as “Mimi,” passed away on June 27, 2025, in Keller, Texas, leaving her family heartbroken and the local UPS driver wondering where she’d gone. It’s entirely possible that her passing was hastened by the tragic inability to shop and greet deliveries with her signature excitement—a daily ritual she had only recently mastered on her iPhone. She will be missed beyond measure.

Born on April 20, 1943, in the Texas Panhandle, Judy was a true original. A fearless trick rider, horseback square dancer, rodeo queen, and chuck wagon cook in her youth, she lived life with grit, grace, and a good bit of mischief. Her partner in crime was her best friend Dinah—affectionately known as Honey—her Thelma to Judy’s Louise. Their friendship, filled with laughter and adventure, endured a lifetime.

In 1968, she married Terry Scott. Their lives took them all over the state, including Amarillo, Dumas, and New Braunfels, settling in Hurst in 1978 to raise their two children, Jeff and Julee. Judy was a founding member of the Hurst United Soccer Association, a role that blossomed into decades of service, community, and cherished friendships that shaped her family’s life. She will forever be the Jet’s team mom.

Her family's Christmas celebrations were also legendary. Judy spent the entire year thoughtfully curating perfectly balanced and individually wrapped gifts, ensuring each recipient felt special and equally spoiled. She wanted her family well-dressed and always prepared for accidents with clean undies and socks.

Judy had a strong affection for dogs, horses and was an avid collector of Boyd’s Bears and Precious Moments. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, a cold Sprite, vanilla soft serve, and extra-crispy chicken tenders. While she adored her whole family, she unapologetically loved her grandchildren and nephews: Landree, Logan, Luke, Audrey, Douglas, Brian, Nicholas, Braxton, Dalton, Braylon, Austin, and Alex.

Mimi leaves behind her brother, Monty, and wife, Lydia Blandford; nephew, Rhett, and wife, Tyra Blandford; son, Jeff, and wife, Leslie Scott; and daughter, Julee, and husband, Todd Lacey. Judy’s heart, however, always belonged to the mountains of San Isabel, Colorado—J’s Mountains, as they were fondly known, became a beloved destination, a place that we can find Judy along with those that preceded her in death, her parents, CL ‘Big Daddy’ and June ‘Mama J’ Blandford, brother Steve, and husband of 53 years Terry.

Visitation will be held at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst on July 11th from 6 to 8 pm, and services on July 12th at 10 am. Internment at Historic Grapevine Cemetery immediately following.
