Gloria "Cookie" Smith, born on September 28, 1947, in Bedford, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was a woman who valued her independence, cherished her family and found joy in the simple things in life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Chilson and Genevieve Chilson, as well as her siblings, Richard Chilson, Lea Stephan, Andrew Chilson, and Joseph Chilson Jr. She is survived by her sister of Dayton Beach Florida, Stella Ott (Richard), and by her children: Robert Fink (Heather), Connie Pritchett (John), Mitchell Fink (Rhonda), and Cynthia Peterson-Fink. She was a loving grandmother to Kameron Kirkendall, Jake Stokes (Ashley) Jeremy Richardson, Christopher Fink (Jessica), TJ Fink, Blake Stokes, and Samantha Stokes. She was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren and a special niece Cassandra Belle (Xaiver) who brought her endless joy and laughter.
Gloria had a strong work ethic, holding various roles throughout her life, from waitress to machinist. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and having her nails done, always finding joy in treating herself and others.
She also had a deep love for animals and cherished the companionship of her beloved dogs, lady and her previous companion Charlie. Gloria will be remembered for resilience, independence, and the loved she shared with those closest to her.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm with a service to follow at Companion Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Greg Charles.
