Gloria P. Stoneback

Gloria P. Stoneback of Souderton went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 3, 2025, at the age of 95. She spent the last year of her life at Peter Becker Community in Harleysville, and the family is grateful for the care they gave her. Gloria was preceded in death 18 years ago by her loving husband of 55 years, Harvey D. Stoneback.
Born in Souderton, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mabel (Price) Landes. She graduated from Souderton High School in 1947 and Grand View's School of Nursing in 1950. She worked as a nurse at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville until she retired from nursing to raise her family and eventually became self-employed as a seamstress making custom drapes. She enjoyed crocheting and made many beautiful doilies and afghans for friends and family.
Gloria was a member of Penn Valley Church in Telford for 56 years where she was the choir director, organist, pianist, and VBS music director. She loved to worship the Lord through music all her life. She also volunteered in the church kitchen and Camp Conquest's kitchen in Denver, PA. She was an excellent "comfort food" cook, and her family will always remember the many delicious meals she made, especially the variety of her casseroles and cookies. She made so many cookies for her great-grandchildren that they affectionately called her "Cookie Mom Mom." In her later years, she enjoyed helping her granddaughter Sabrina make items for Operation Christmas Child's shoeboxes.
Gloria was preceded in death by her sister Grace Shive and brothers Raymond Landes, Robert Landes, and Herbert Landes. She is survived by her brother G. Lawrence Landes of Hatfield. She is also survived by her four children and their spouses: Deborah Bratcher and her husband Gene of Telford, PA; Pamela Pritchett and her husband Daniel of Hagerstown, MD; Donald Stoneback and his wife Barbara of Denver, PA; and Dean Stoneback and his wife Pamela of Harleysville, PA. Gloria enjoyed watching her nine grandchildren grow up, giving her a total of sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 29 at Penn Valley Church‚ 320 N. Third St.‚ Telford‚ PA 18969‚ where the family will greet friends from 4 to 4:45 p.m. A fellowship meal will follow in the church gym for friends and family. Memorial contributions may be made in Gloria's name to Penn Valley Church for support of Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child shoebox items.
