Gloria Sweeney Obituary

Our beloved mother, Gloria (Smith) Sweeney, 81, of West Pittston, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Born in Scranton on August 5, 1944, she was the daughter of the late David L. Smith and Elizabeth (Warren) Smith. She is survived by her brothers Terry Smith and his wife, Frances, Steve Smith and wife, Carol, David Smith and wife, Sidney, Leroy Smith, and Genie Smith; her sister, Linda Plouffe and husband, Alan, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings Betty, Mary, Grace, Carolyn, Beatrice, Naomi, Linda and her brother Robert.

She will be dearly missed by her daughters Debbie Lizza and her husband, Michael, Roxanne and husband, Harry, and Mary Isaacs and husband, Dennis; her son, Richard Allen and wife, Carmen; and her grandchildren, Robert, Kayla, Seth, Brayden, Ben, Timothy, Jeffrey, Liz and Katie. She was also blessed with 11 great grandchildren who helped brighten up her life.

Gloria was an incredible mom who gave her all to raising her children. She has left each of them with the blueprint for how a mom should love. Each of them will forever remember the special times they shared with her.

When not surrounded by her family, she enjoyed spending time with her close friends Diane and Marsha, who helped her laugh and kept up their round-robin dinners.

While she may be gone from her earthly body, she will never be gone from our thoughts and our hearts. We love you, mom.
