Gloria Jean Terrell, a beloved member of her community and a devoted family woman, passed away peacefully at her residence in Pleasant Grove, Alabama, on May 21, 2025. Born on June 15, 1943, in Iowa, Gloria's light shone brightly throughout her life, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Gloria dedicated a significant part of her working life to the community she cherished. She began her career as the Crossing Guard at Pleasant Grove Elementary School, where her warm smile and vigilant care ensured the safety of countless children. Everyone who passed through those crosswalks felt the warmth of her presence. Later, she continued her journey in service at Liberty National Life Insurance Company, where she worked for many years before retiring. Gloria’s colleagues remember her not just for her work ethic but for the sense of camaraderie she fostered among her peers.
Her greatest joy, however, lay in her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Adron Paul Terrell, and their son, Jeff Terrell, who shares his life with Kathy. Gloria’s spirit was further sustained by her cherished sisters, Linda Redler, Terri Thomas, JoAnn Clark, and Vicki Lange, each of whom carries a piece of her memory and loves her dearly.
Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Clement Russell "Mike" Thomas and Leona Petersen Thomas. Although they are no longer with us, their legacy lives on in the kindness and compassion that Gloria imparted upon her family and community.
A visitation to honor Gloria will be held at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home in Pleasant Grove, Alabama, on May 27, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family and friends to come together to celebrate her life, share stories, and find solace in the company of those who loved her. A graveside inurnment will take place at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 2, 2025, at Brighton Township Cemetery, northeast of Marne, Iowa.
Gloria Jean Terrell’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and community spirit. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
