Gloria Armamento Villegas, 74, of
Virginia Beach, VA, peacefully passed away on October 31, 2025, in Ascension St. Vincent's Hospital, Jacksonville, FL. She was surrounded by her adoring children, cousins, and nephews for four days before she passed. Her best friends and tour bus participants also surrounded her, paying their respects and offering their prayers.
Gloria was born on September 27, 1951, in Lucena City, Philippines, to Amando Zara and Emer Quinto Armamento. As the youngest of eleven children, she was affectionately known as "Baby." She attended Quezon Provincial High School and completed her second year of Business Administration at Luzonian University in the Philippines in 1971.
As a devoted mother of five children and naval wife, she dedicated her life to supporting her growing family, her husband's 24.5-year naval career, and his 15-year government service. For the first 15 years, she was a stay-at-home mom, holding down the fort while her husband was away at sea during the Gulf War and other lengthy deployments. After her husband transitioned to naval ground duty, she worked as a civil servant at the DECA Portsmouth Commissary for twenty years, supporting her children through school and significant life transitions. Everything she did was for the sake of her family, who loved and respected her dearly.
She knew the way to people's hearts was through her delicious food. Cooking a large spread for anyone who visited her house gave her joy. She knew they loved her cooking, so she always made their favorites. Cooking several entrees and desserts at a time, serving them, and cleaning up along the way was extremely easy for her. This stemmed from her childhood experience working in her parents' restaurant in the Philippines.
Gloria loved to travel. She traveled everywhere with her husband throughout the United States. They often visited their five children and eleven grandchildren in Northern Virginia, Texas, Colorado, and California. She also traveled to various parts of the world, including China, Japan, Italy, Singapore, Mexico, and the Philippines, with her husband, family, and friends.
Gloria's friendly, outgoing personality made her well-loved at school, work, and in her personal life. Everyone loved her Filipino dishes and hospitality. Her social calendar was always full. She looked forward to playing mahjong into the night with her best friends, line dancing, and singing karaoke. Additionally, she was an active and faithful member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church and secretary of the Quezonian Association of Hampton Roads, Inc.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roberto, who passed away on May 12, 2025. Survived are her adoring children: Emmy (Patrick) Obruba (grandchildren: Alexander, Nathan, and Victoria), Juliette Savellano (grandsons: Dante, Ian, and Mathis), Olivia (Adam) Brittain (grandchildren: Isaac and Audrey), Noel (Regina) Villegas (granddaughters: Nya, Nyssa, and Noelle), and Ronnie Villegas. She is also survived by her oldest sister, Lena Goings, and her fourth-oldest sister, Leticia Vibar, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, best friends, and long-time friends.

Gloria left this world too soon, and her sudden passing has left our hearts shocked and broken. Her life and her memory will forever remain in our hearts and minds. She made this world a better place with her loving nature, kind gestures, delicious meals, and unwavering presence in our lives. We are comforted knowing that she is with her beloved husband in Heaven after only 173 days apart. We love you and miss you so much always and forever, our eternal matriarch.
