Glorine Emma Hellweg was born on October 7, 1930, in Lee County, Iowa, to Conrad and Elizabeth Rotter Kruse. Her early years were spent in the simplicity of the rural country school before graduating from St. Mary Catholic School in West Point, IA. Glorine began working at the Sheaffer Pen company in Ft. Madison. While attending her sister's wedding she met a groomsman by the name of Arthur Hellweg. The two were united in marriage on April 19, 1952, at St. Mary in West Point, the couple laid down roots in Ft. Madison and shortly after took the bold step of embracing farm life together in Fairfield in 1954.
Embodying the spirit of a true farmwife and mother, Glorine cherished her role in nurturing her growing family. Her passion for caregiving extended into her later years when she enriched the lives of many at the Jefferson County Health Center's cafeteria, where she worked until retirement.
Glorine loved crocheting, and her creations are a warm reminder of her skilled hands. Her love for playing cards made her a joyful competitor amongst friends and family. Glorine was also celebrated for her exceptional baking, with her pies and angel food cake becoming the highlights of many gatherings. Faith was a cornerstone of Glorine's life; she was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, Iowa for many years.
While she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Arthur Hellweg, her dear son Terrence, and her cherished siblings Marie, Kathryn, Richard, Ernest, Cletus, Bertha, Adrian, and Darlene, her spirit lives on in those she leaves behind.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Janet Hellweg, Randy (Jodi) Hellweg, Mike (Tracey) Hellweg, Mary (Scott) Lovik, Brenda Hellweg (Dan Say), and Monica Hellweg; Her nine grandchildren, Loran (Matt) Stutenberg, Josh (Kendra) Hellweg, Chandra Hellweg-Gillespie (JT), Teree (Jon) Hungerford, Jeremy Hellweg, Ariana (Paul) Pasierb, Zachary (Sara) Rundlett-Herdliska, Christopher Herdliska (Ashely Murphy), and Jarrett Hellweg (Kaycee McGregor); and eleven cherished great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Menke, as well as many extended family and friends.
