Ms. Gloristine Brown Grice

Gloristine "Mama D" Brown Grice was born January 8, 1943, in Pitt County to Robert and Elnora Hines Brown. She departed this life on January 8, 2026.

Mama D grew up and attended school in Bethel, NC. She later met and married Arthur Grice. She raised eleven children who now will carry on her legacy of strength and love.

Mama D was well known for her Sunday dinners, quick wit and sharp sense of humor. She generously shared her wisdom with family, friends, and all who crossed her path. She had a mini mart of Sam's, HSN and QVC products, which will now be enjoyed by many! She will forever be remembered as the rock of the family.

Mama D was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Grice; her siblings, Novella B. Cobbs, James L. Brown, Robert J. Brown, Judge L. Brown, Katie L. Cole, Thelma B. Atkinson, Elijah Brown, William N. Brown, Shirley L. Brown, and Elbert Brown.

Mama D leaves to celebrate her loving memory, eight sons and three daughters; Wallace Brown (Darlene), Bishop Robert Brown (Shannon), Barbara Brown, Arthur Brown (Renee), Jackie Grice Watson, Pastor Anthony Grice (Loretta), Sharon Grice, Ronald Grice (Angela), Jeffrey Grice, Steve Grice (Vivian), Columbus Grice (Cynthia); Twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Brown Taylor, and other relatives and friends.
