Glorystein Thornton age 56, passed away December 15, 2025 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 4:00 PM, Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Dodds Dumanois Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 901 Garland St. Flint, MI 48503. Pastor Clarence Lee officiating. Family will receive visitors starting at 2:00PM Saturday, and will resume after the funeral until 6:00 PM. Cremation to follow. Glorystein was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend whose presence brought warmth and strength to those who knew her. She was known for her caring heart, her resilience and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the family she cherished. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Justis Thornton, Jamal Thornton, and Lamika Cannon and her beloved grandchildren, Makayla Willis, Jamal Thornton Jr., Laquavion Taylor, Devin Player and Dominick Cannon. She is also survived by her brothers, Sammie D. Gibson of Flint, MI, Larry D. (Mary) Thornton of Lansing, MI, and Nathaniel Gibson of Mt. Morris, MI, her sisters Leatha Ann Thornton of Phoenix, AZ, Annie B. Spurlock of Flint, MI and her special friends, Crystal Scott, Veronica Johnson and Stacye Williams. Glorystein was preceded in death by her sister Josephine Thornton, her mother Fannie Bell Conley, father Albert Thornton, brothers Johnny Frank Gibson, Willie A. Spurlock and her husband Ronald Johnson. Those who knew Glorystein will forever remember her fun loving, joyful spirit, contagious smile and the way she greeted everyone with a cheerful "Heyyyyy girl!" and encouraged them with a proud "You go girl!!!" Her laughter and love will live on in our hearts. Though she is no longer with us in body, Glorystein will forever remain with those who knew and loved her.
