Lisa Levette (Gates) Smith was born on October 8,1965, in Danville, Illinois. She was the daughter of Shirley Gate-Neely and Otha Daniels.

Gonzalas E. Smith was born on April 13, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois to David Smith & Daughnette Moore-Smith-Gault. He graduated from Catholic school in Chicago. He later relocated to Danville. Danville was the place where he found the love of his life, Ms. Lisa Gates. Lisa and Gonny, as he was affectionately called, dated and later tied the knot and were forever locked in as one. They were together with undying love for over thirty-five years.

Gonzalas was employed at Elliott Furniture store and was self-employed collecting scrap and doing yard work, while Lisa was a homemaker.

Lisa and Gonzalas were members of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor, Lucious Barber. Lisa was part of the culinary team and the Food Panty Ministry. Lisa enjoyed cooking, and Gonny enjoyed eating. Lisa loved singing, and Gonny loved listening. They both loved fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Lisa and Gonzalas leaves to cherish the children of their lives: Rahkee , Mister, and Rashanda Norman, Marcus, Eric, and Erica Johnson, Credell Howard-Johnson, Emarion Johnson-Neely, and Noah Gates; Sisters: LaKisha (Darian) Williams & Samantha Serino; Brothers: William Gault & DeMichael Serino; Uncles: Walter Howard, Robert Daniels, Dennis (Linda) Moore, Charles(Arlene) and Walter Smith; Aunts: Lucille Johnson, Georgia McGuire, Phyllis (Glanville) Evans, Sandra Moore, LaTayna (Richard)) Wheeler, Brenda (Dan) Morris, Special Friends Loretta Clark & Tara Mormen, and a host of relatives and friends.

Lisa and Gonzalas were proceeded in death by their parents and grandparents.

A visitation will be held on Friday March 6, 2026 at New Life church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave from 10:00 am until 12:00 Noon.
