Gordon Earl Franklin, age 73, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 14, 1952, in Bloomington, Indiana, the son of Garold and Virginia (Smith) Franklin.
Gordon spent over 40 years on the road as a dedicated truck driver. He truly loved the open road and took great pride in his work, logging countless miles over the years.
Outside of work, Gordon found joy in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling with his companion, Paula Mobley. Together, they loved exploring and riding their side-by-side and riding motorcycles. Gordon also had a special fondness for horses and cherished the time spent attending rodeos with his family.
He is survived by his companion, Paula Mobley of Linton; daughters, Kim (Rick Platek) Porter and Lani Carter; sons, Robert Porter Jr. and Dennis Porter; and grandchildren, Jared Browning, Kelsey Browning, Abigail Porter, Kara Bault, Andrew Carter, and Kendall Reno.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda Franklin; and his brother, Gary Franklin.
A celebration of Gordon's life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the Spencer Conservation Club from 1:00-5:00 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are entrusted by Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton of Walton Funeral Service.
