As one of his older cousins I remember Gordy from way back.
He was a sweet, dear funny man and I treasure the joint family memories I share with my siblings: John and Sharon and Gordy `s brother Gary
I recall the fun romps Gary, Gordy, Sharon and I had bouncing around their bedroom and laughing through issues of Mad Magazine on Saturday visits to G& G´s boyhood home in St Clair Shotes, the treasured extended family Christmas celebrations we all shared - year after year at our Aunt Angeline and Aunt Ann´s home this was after Gordy had been over to our aunt´s home to assemble the several aluminum trees to be decorated for the festivities- Gordy took care of this prep year after year
And when our dad was seriously ill in Florida- Gordy accompanied his dad ( my Uncle George- my dad´s brother) on a drive to Florida to help my mom and dad pack up and come back to Michigan- this family kindness was truly treasured at a time when my family needed the support most!
I recall the Christmas Eve that Gordy and his friend and business partner Chris spent with my parents and I as I was visiting them in their Florida condo- earlier in the day I had visited Gordy´s Florida deli and that night Chris and Gordy came for the visit bearing many delicious additions to the evening- we toasted the threshold to Christmas that night with plenty of high spirits and champagne!
Gary, Gordy Uncle George and Aunt Mary played heavily in happy youthful family memories
Then one day years later when I was at my workplace in Troy, I got a call to come to the lobby - there was Gordy to greet me - as my business place was on his commercial route on the Big Beaver business corridor- it was a wonderful surprise visit and following this initial " reunion" Gordy would stop by on his route every so often so we could catch up a bit
I know I speak for my two siblings when I wish God´s blessings on Gary and Debbie and their girls as the close the circle with Gordy´s passing and that they will be remembered in our prayers and fond recounts of our years together as a happy extended family
Sending love
Michele

I've known Gordy since we were teens. Very good friend of my sister Peggy who passed 13 years ago. I worked with him when he first started at FedEx. Many memories. I knew Gary in high school and I extend my prayers to the family.
