Gordon Cade Moore was born February 19, 1939 at the Sanitarium Hospital 4th and Mapleton in Boulder, CO to Sadie Bowes Moore and Donald Cade Moore. He went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 15, 2025. He lived in Louisville, CO until he was 3 years old when his family moved to Boulder and settled in the NW Boulder Newlands subdivision where he would remain until he was 18. He attended Washington grade school, Casey junior high school, and graduated Boulder HS in 1957. Small in stature he enjoyed all sports but excelled in wrestling where he was the Northern Conference Champion his junior year. He also began his rodeo career at age 14 riding in the first Little Britches rodeo in Littleton, CO and continued to ride bulls summer weekends in Colorado and WY until he enlisted in the Army and left CO. After graduation he married his HS sweetheart and love of his life Donna Lee Santi and they would remain married until his death. During his 3 year stint in the Army he received substantial missile electronics training and then became a Sergeant in charge of internal guidance on the LaCrosse missile stationed at Ft Sill, OK. After his service he went back to his job as a ready mix truck driver for a few months before landing a job the Rocky Flats Atomic Plant south of Boulder where he first worked as a Health Physics Radiation Monitor and then an Experimental Chemical Operator. He left Rocky Flats in 1967 to attend CU as a business major. During that 2 year period he got a "temporary" job in law enforcement and liked it so much he transferred to Metropolitan State University where he earned a degree in Criminal Justice, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He stayed in law enforcement for almost 13 years rising to the rank of Captain (Operations Division Commander) at the Boulder Police Department. At the age of 33 he contracted rheumatoid arthritis and 7 years later it became so bad he had to retire. He then became a State Farm Agent in Gunbarrel for the next 30 years. During that time he earned the following designations from the American College: Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Chartered Advisor for Senor Living (CASL). He also belonged to the following organizations: Boulder Kiwanis Club, Boulder Toastmasters (past president), Boulder Association of Life Underwrites (past president), Boulder County Estate Planning Council (past president), Gunbarrel/Niwot Business Association (past president). During his career at State Farm he and his wife (and business manager) enjoyed numerous trips to Europe, Mexico, Bermuda, Hawaii, Ireland, Great Britain, Canada, and Jamaica, as well as extensive travel in the U.S. and the special trips when the whole family could go together. After new medications helped get the arthritis under control he enjoyed many years of fly fishing, pheasant hunting (especially with his sons) , trail riding, and team roping. He also enjoyed the many times when his large family got together to celebrate birthdays and holidays and other special occasions. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Donna Moore, 3 children: Sam (Cindy), Debbie Worthington (Carl), Brenton (Lisa) of Banner WY; 11 Grand Children, 21 Great Grand Children, and 2 great-great grandsons. Services will be held at Faith Community Lutheran Church, Longmont CO on July 24, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
