Gordon Nelson Obituary
Gordy was a graduate of McDowell High School. In 1978 he established his building and remodeling business, G. M. Nelson Construction, Inc., servicing Erie and surrounding areas up until his unexpected passing. He enjoyed being a part of making others' building dreams a reality. Gordy had a deep love for animals and spending time with friends and family. He enjoyed the ocean and cruising. Gordy was a cancer survivor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marcia Grode, his father-in-law, John Konzel, his mother-in-law, Kathryn Konzel and his brother-in-law, Edward Calior.
Survivors include his wife, of 35 years, Mary Konzel Nelson; his sister Nancy Calior, his brother, Robert Nelson and his wife, Sandy; In-laws: Gary and Evelyn Cage, their children Darrell Cage; David and Beth Cage and their sons, Gavin and Hudson; Luke and Charity Cage, and their children, Jasalene and Gabby; Bernie and Randi Cage and their children, CiCi and Kali; John and Joan Konzel, their daughter Mary Lynn Wilamowski and her husband Dave, and their children, Dave, Christopher, and Jane; Ronald and Kathy Cage, their late son, Randy; Connie and Marc Nelson, and their children Brody and Bryce; Kelly and Fred Veith; James Cage; Anne and Craig Wilkerson and their children, Sarah and Bret English, and their children Eben, Badger, Galalio, and Ari; daughter Christa Wilkerson; Beth Konzel and her daughter, Jessyca Swigart and her children, Jayla and James Garner; and son, Tom Swigart, Jr. and his wife Megan.
Gordy will be missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know him. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and had a good heart. He was an amazing husband and friend to many.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd, Erie, Pa 16504, on Friday, February 14th from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Memorial may be made to the ANNA Shelter - 1555 E 10th St, Erie, PA 16511.

I just saw the obituary for Gordon. I am so sad for everyone in Gordon's family and his friends. Although it had been many years since I had seen Gordon, I was looking forward to seeing him again. He was someone you always remember. He had done work at my home. His work was impeccable. Working with him was always a pleasure. Again, I am so sorry for your loosing a wonderful man.
