Gordon Patterson Obituary

Gordon Wellborn Patterson, 88, of Fairfax, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025. Born in Monticello, Mississippi, he was a proud Army veteran, serving 20 years and completing two tours in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC). Gordon held degrees from the University of Tennessee and Babson College and later operated The Sign Post, Inc., with his partners for 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 60 years, Kay Cannon Patterson. He is survived by his sister, Rebecca Boehm (Richard); children, Robert Patterson and Keli Alvarado (Thomas); and granddaughters, Kaitlyn Snead (Thomas) and Sarah Morrison. He was a lifelong sports enthusiast, angler, and Eagle Scout.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 22, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River (www.friendsofthenorthfork.org). Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at
