Died: October 13, 2025 in Sterling, IL
Gordon R. Rolofson, 89, of Sterling passed away Monday October 13, 2025 at Rock River Hospice & Home in Sterling. Gordon was born March 3, 1936 in Rock Falls IL the son of Burl and Jessie (McCallister) Rolofson. He married Sharon Carbaugh on May 19, 1959 in Coeur d'Alene ID. Sharon passed away April 18, 2009. Gordon then married Marie Cordes on March 20, 2010 in Sterling.
Survivors include his wife Marie Rolofson; two daughters Gwen Eads, and Kelly (Mike) McDuffy; two step-daughters Nancy (Kenny) Reins, and Kathy (Doug) Chinberg; two sisters Evelyn Jones, and Kathy Lynn (Hubbard) Hancock; six grandsons Joshua Eads, Brandon DeJonge, Travis DeJonge, Dylan DeJonge, Chance McDuffy, Cody McDuffy; one grand-daughter Jessie Eads; step-grandchildren Kendra Bittner, Kinzie Reins, Christine Gruenwald, and Robert Chinberg; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Gordon was also preceded in death by his parents; wife Sharon; one daughter Rhonda DeJonge, and one great-grandchild Oliver DeJonge.
Funeral service will be 11:30AM Thursday October 16, 2025 at Coleta United Methodist Church in Coleta. Visitation will be an hour and a half prior to the service at the Church from 10AM-11:30AM. Burial will take place immediately following in Bethel Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Coleta United Methodist Church and the Oliver DeJonge Memorial (Checks may be made out to UIHC Stead Family Childrens Hospital).
