Gorman Oneal Langston Funeral services for Gorman Oneal Langston of Winfield, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Karla Cunningham, pastor of Makin Memorial United Methodist Church, will officiate with burial in Winfield Cemetery in Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Lawrence, Wayne Langston, Glen Langston, Doug Langston, Mark Langston and Scott Langston; honorary pallbearers will be James Painter, Karl Schalk, Nelson Tiller, Paul Elston, Larry Lindsey, Richard Hemmer and Jerry Hemmer. Mr. Langston, 80, died Sunday morning, January 10, 2010 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, MO. Born November 11, 1929 in Hand, AR, he was the son of Hoyd Henry and Audra Rand Langston. He was a graduate of Winfield High School. He served his country during the Korean Conflict as a radio tech in the U.S. Air Force. He was united in marriage on September 3, 1955 in Old Monroe, MO to Patricia Ann Hemmer. This union was blessed with three sons: Douglas, Mark and Scott. He was employed for 33 years as a machinist at Electro Motors in St. Louis from 1960 until the plant closed in 1985, and in Jacksonville, FL until he retired in January, 1993. After he retired, Oneal and Pat moved back to Winfield. Wanting something to keep himself busy, he worked part-time for Hertz Rental Car for seven years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyd and Audra Langston; one brother, Henry Odell Langston in 1998; and one sister, Norma Lee Moore in 1998. Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Pat Langston of Winfield; three sons: Douglas Dale Langston and his wife, Reta, of Hannibal, MO, Mark Robin Langston of Winfield, and Scott Oneal Langston, also of Winfield; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves one sister: Nona Faye Painter and her husband, Jim, of Chesterfield, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Memorials may be made to Disabled Veterans in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
