ALEXANDER – Grace Fisher Buckner, age 99, of Alexander went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 24, 2025, while being cared for at the home of her grandson.
Mrs. Buckner was born on June 20, 1926, in Madison County where she had lived all of her life. She retired from Mills Manufacturing Company. Grace lived everyday of her 99 years praising Jesus and loved to share His word and promise. She was a member of Grandview Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Rev. Vaughn Fisher, Sr. and Carrie Briggs Fisher and wife of the late Frank Harold Buckner, to whom she was married 77 years. She was also preceded in death by son, Ronnie Buckner and his wife Irene Buckner; sisters, Nina Mae Reece, Eileen Griffin, Helen Griffin, Iva Glen Greene; and brothers, Howard, Fred, Vaughn, Jr., and Ralph Fisher.
Surviving is her grandson, Tim Buckner and wife Melinda of Newport, TN; great granddaughter, Abby; and brother-in-law, Claude Griffin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 29, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, NC 28787, with Rev. Kenneth Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, 40 Roberts St., Weaverville, NC 28787.
The family will receive friends from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m., on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Smoky Mountain Health and Hospice for their love and care as well as her nieces Denise, Marla, and Jennifer. Special caregiver, Rochelle and others that helped along the way.
