Katherine Grace Burgess was born on July 21, 1994, in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. She was named Grace, as it means an undeserved gift from God. She passed away on December 20, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age of 31 years old.
Grace attended Colleyville Heritage High School. She moved to Colorado because of her love for adventure and snowboarding. She stayed because she loved the cold weather, the mountains, and the friendly people. She had a great love for animals and always had a cat and a dog as pets wherever she lived.
She spent many years working as a cook in several restaurants, where she loved to cook and host friends for fabulous meals and gatherings. Her favorite job was working with adults who have developmental delays, and she hoped to make that her vocation.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Virginia Burgess; grandfather, Charles Duane Burgess; uncle, Charles D. Burgess, Jr.; and her beloved brother, Charlie Burgess. She is survived by her loving mother, Teri Burgess of Grapevine; aunts, Bonita Beckham and husband, Rick of Princeton, Texas; Zelma Magee and husband, Rob of Columbia, Mississippi; and Teri J. Burgess of Turlock, California; cousins, Sara, Jonathan, Rachel, Reid, Abby, Joy Chad, Paul, and their spouses; and a host of friends, all of whom miss her tremendously.
The funeral service will begin at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst.
