Laura Grace Garner Dunn, 77, of Asheboro, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Randolph Hospice House. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Joyce-Brady Chapel. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday July 11, 2025 at High Falls Christian Church, where she was a member, with Pastor Chris Wilson presiding. Burial will follow at Beulah Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the High Falls Christian Church fellowship hall following the interment and at other times at her daughter's home.
Grace was born in Chatham County on April 8, 1948 to Ed Everette Garner and Dorothy Shields Garner. She worked at B.B. Walker Shoe Co. as a district manager for 33 years. Grace enjoyed singing in the church choir, gardening and working in her flowers. She loved her family, her church and her church family. She adored her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Edith Martindale and brothers, Timothy Glen Garner, Roy Everette Garner and Jerry Wayne Garner.
Grace is survived by her daughter, Kelly D. Scott (Mark), of Robbins; partner of 28 years, Darrell Byrd, of Asheboro; sister, Mae Evangelista, of Robbins; grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Scott (Ricky Garner), of Robbins, Shannon Scott Lambert (Ethan), of Robbins and Kayly Scott Garner (Will), of Robbins; great-grandchildren, Everleigh Lambert, Iva Grace Lambert and Kaydence Garner and a host of family and friends.
