Grace Adele Lutz, 94, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 9, at the Haven Convalescent Nursing Home. Born December 6, 1930, in
New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of the late W. Montgomery and Frances (Fombelle) Rodgers. She married her beloved husband, Robert G. Lutz, on September 4, 1951. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2009.
Grace graduated from New Castle High School in 1948. She attended Jameson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1951 as a registered nurse. She was employed by Trumbull Memorial Hospital and Jameson Memorial Hospital and retired from nursing in 1978. Following retirement, she joined her husband and son in forming their family glass business, Bob Lutz and Son Beveling. She enjoyed spending time with her family as well as Bible study, reading, knitting, sewing, cooking, and watching Pittsburgh sports. Her Christian faith was the main focus of her life; as a member of First Baptist Church, she participated in the choir, musical outreaches and the Sparklers senior group. Grace's favorite verses, Proverbs 3:5-6, were included in every card and note that she sent to family and friends.
She is survived by four sons, John Lutz, of Madison, TN, James (Nancy) Lutz, of New Castle, T. Jerald (Carrie) Lutz of Eckville, Alberta, Canada, and Joseph (Julie) Lutz, of New Castle; two sisters, Barbara Wellhausen, of New Castle and Sydney Shumaker, of Jensen Beach, FL; nine grandchildren, David Lutz, Chrissy Welgan, Joshua Lutz, Giana Gentry, Amber Minto, Gabriel Lutz, Aaron Lutz, Austin Lutz and Noah Lutz; and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Deborah Lutz.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18th, from 3:00 to 6:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 6:00 with Rev. Charles Fombelle officiating.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
