A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Grace Antee Coutee Monette will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle, LA with Rev. William Gearheard serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Catholic Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 am on December the 16th with recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 10:30 am.
On Sunday December 10, 2023 at 7:35 am, Grace Antee Coutee Monette, daughter and sister, passed away at the age of 99. She was born on November 1, 1924.
She was a strong, loving and caring woman who took care and raised her siblings after her mother passed away. She was the daughter of Edward Antee, Sr. and Ethel Moran Antee of Cane River, LA.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Edward Antee, Jr., Joseph Woodrow Antee, Nicholas Antee, Andrew LaCour, William Antee (Silverine), Joseph LaCour, Sr. (Bessie); and a sister, Catherine “Kitty” Antee; a niece, Marie Layssard; godchild, Celine Coutee (Collins) and Francis Metoyer.
She was married twice, first to Vincent Coutee, who preceded her in death, and that union produced two children, Gail Ethel Coutee LaCaze (Lance Andrew LaCaze) and James Patrick Coutee (Cynthia Coutee). Her second marriage was to Joseph Monette who preceded her in death as well.
She will be forever remembered by her grandchildren, Cheryl LaCaze Calvaruso (Thomas Charles), Brandon Coutee (Keysha), Cordaz Coutee (Yahriel); great grandchildren, Amani, Makayla, Keandre, Destiny, Chance, Summer, Spring, Brittany, and Thomas; and her great-great grandchildren, Jade, Korinne, Anthony, Karmen, Dante, Riley and McKenna.
