Leah Grace Popchoke, age 93, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on March 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 14, 1932, in Madison County, Arkansas, to Moline and Harry Freshour. Grace was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Bailey Popchoke; her son, Roy Don Popchoke; her parents, Moline and Harry Freshour; and three brothers and one sister. Grace grew up in Arkansas, attending several schools throughout the state, before moving to Oklahoma where she graduated from Altus High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Joe Bailey Popchoke, on September 1, 1950, and together they built a life full of love, devotion, and family. In 1955, Grace and Joe moved to Ralls, Texas, where they established their forever home. Grace was the Ralls Elementary School librarian for many years, a role that allowed her to share her love of reading with many children. She then worked alongside Joe at Apex Machine, where they both dedicated many years of hard work until their retirement in 2012. In 2018, they relocated to San Angelo, Texas, where Grace continued to live until her passing. Grace was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church Ralls, where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, GA's, and served on many committees. She was an avid student of the Bible and her faith was a guiding force in her life. Grace was also known for her love of cooking, and she was famous for her brownies and chocolate pie. She enjoyed sewing, genealogy, and spending time researching her family history, a passion that brought her great joy.
Grace is survived by her daughter, Robin Terrell and her husband Ron Terrell of San Angelo, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Terri Meyer of Chinook, Montana; her eight grandchildren, Lauren Logg and her husband Jared, Emily Popchoke, Clinton Popchoke and his wife Emily, Kylie Fleming and her husband Kayne, Kassidy Popchoke, Zach Terrell and his wife Isabelle, Alex Terrell, and Morgan Terrell. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Gina Ripple, Shannon at Home Care, Visiting Angels and Hospice of San Angelo for their excellent care of Ms. Grace for the past several years.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 6:00-7:00 at Adams Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Ralls. Graveside service will follow at the Ralls Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church Ralls. Online condolences can be made at www.adamsfuneral.com (http://www.adamsfuneral.com).
