Grace Marie Smith

Grace Estep Smith passed away on Friday morning December 12 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on May 14, 1929 to Josie Brownie Hinesley Estep and Louie Bee Estep in Newnan.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She worked for Arnall Mills at Sargent as a young woman. After the children, she was a homemaker and faithfully cared for her daughter, Elaine, until she passed away at the age of 5. She returned to work at Bibb Manufacturing, where she remained until she retired in May of 1991. Her hobbies were reading, cooking, travelling, gardening, and canning and freezing things from their garden. She loved spending time with her extended family, especially during holidays. Most recently having 23 at her home for Thanksgiving. Grace and Reuben traveled as much as they could, visiting all 50 states and twenty-something countries.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Elaine, her husband Reuben, her sisters Vivian Miller and Katherine Burnham, and her brother Louie Estep. She is survived by her son Allen Smith (Dot) and daughter Susan Riggs (Rodney) and her brother David (Sadie Estep); grandchildren Tabatha (Johnny) Shoemaker, Jennifer (Tracy) Wallace, Kevin (Natalie) Riggs, Jamie Smith, Caleb (Jessica) Smith, Keith (Kalyn) Riggs, and Haley Smith; great grand children Cody Shoemaker, Jonathan Smith (Stphanie), Heather (Shane) Owen, Gabe and Wyatt Wallace, Amelia and Willa Riggs and Walker Smith; great great grandson Matthew Owen; and sister in law, Joyce Estep, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service is Monday, December 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. Pallbearers are grand sons and great grandsons with honorary pallbearers Walker Smith and Matthew Owen.
