Gracie Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 29, 2022.
On Sunday, December 16, 1928, Evelyne and Leroy Davis, Sr. welcomed Gracie Mae into the world. She was their first born, and the eldest of their eight children.
Gracie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and united with the Del Valle Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Henry Hill, followed by Rev. Sterling, and then Rev. Maurice Walker, Sr.
She attended the Del Valle subdivision of J. B. Norwood, School District #66. She united in holy matrimony to L.C. Belving in 1947, and later Audry Viser in 1956. Four of her five children passed away as infants, and her one living child, her daughter, Pinkie Mae Davis, went missing on Monday, September 6, 1976 (Labor Day). We continually pray for closure.
Her only two granddaughters became her daughters, her girls, Evelyn and Angela. She sacrificed alot, changing her life to raise them.
As time passed and her health begin to decline, she changed her membership to the Cottonwood Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Detoneal Cook.
Gracie was preceded in death by both of her parents, Leroy and Evelyne Davis, Sr.; two brothers and one sister, Leroy Davis (Mary), and Huey Davis (Margaret), and Shirley McArthur (Henry).
She leaves to mourn and rejoice in her homegoing, one aunt, Mrs. Ella (Doll) Davis of Houston, Texas, her siblings: Lillie Neal (Marvin-deceased), Lorenzo 'Pete' Davis (JoAnne-deceased), Willie Davis, and Gene Davis (Bertha-deceased); her grandchildren: Evelyn Pugh (James) and Angela Herron; her great-grandchildren: JaCory Forcey, Jarrell Forcey, Jhenae Forcey, Brie-Jainaye Herron, Jasmine Moore, Jade Robinson (Joseph), Rhayn Robinson, Jeslyn Douglas and Jorie Pugh; one great-great-grandchild, Khl'yen Toliver Thomas. We would also like to acknowledge Beverly Harper who was one of her dedicated caregivers; her little helper Michael Farris, and a very special daughter, caregiver, and dear friend, Helen Marie Whitley; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
