Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown Funeral Home - Pine Bluff on Aug. 14, 2023.
Mrs. Grace Williams went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from
Euless, TX, as a result of complications from Chronic Heart Failure (CHF). She was 61 years of age.
Grace was born in
Omaha, Nebraska on August 15, 1961. Although she was raised in
East St. Louis, Illinois, she later moved with her mother, sister, and brother to
Toledo, Ohio and later to
Fremont, California. There she attended John F. Kennedy High School. However, the family moved once more to
San Jose, CA before her Senior year, and she graduated from Silver Creek High School as a member of the Class of 1979. November of the following year, she and her boyfriend, Gregory Wiggins, welcomed her first-born daughter, Shanee' Latrice Wiggins.
After high school, Grace attended Evergreen Valley College, where she received Associate in Arts degrees in both Liberal Arts in 1984 and in Business Administration in 1988. She had a lifelong love of learning and much later attended classes at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Dallas Baptist University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree in 2010. She majored in Psychology.
Grace gave her life to Jesus in 1989, "around my birthday," she said, while attending Maranatha Christian Center in
San Jose, California. She was working at the United States Postal Service, and had saved up for her first car, a white Honda Prelude that she could not even drive off the lot, because it had a stick shift. Her only thought was to create the best life possible for herself and her daughter Shanee'.
In 1990, she met a tall, shy, young man named Johnathan Williams, who was also attending Maranatha Christian Center. On their first date, Grace taught Johnathan how to drive standard, having by then mastered the skill on her own vehicle. They married on May 25th, 1991, and welcomed her second-born daughter, Kaela Renee' Williams, just over a year later.
The family then moved to
Pine Bluff, AR, Johnathan's hometown. While in Arkansas, Grace and Johnathan welcomed their baby girl, Christine Angelique Williams in 1995. Grace's persisting symptoms after Christine's birth prompted the couple to seek treatment, and after an MRI, a brain tumor was discovered. On January 8, 1997, Grace had the tumor successfully removed by Dr. Ossama Al-Mefty at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
Undaunted, Grace recovered slowly but surely, and got about the business of being a mother to her three daughters, and a wife to her husband. The family then moved to
Lauderhill, FL for a position Johnathan secured with Merck and Co., Inc. After many years in South Florida, Merck relocated the family to
Dallas, TX in 2006.
Grace had an abiding love for God and God's people. She was truly a woman of God, a prayer warrior, and an intercessor. Whether she was cleaning the sanctuary, depositing money as a member of the finance committee, or leading the intercessory prayer ministry, Grace worked as unto the Lord. She has served in too many ministries to list here, across four states and maintained her dignified, sober-minded reputation, being faithful in all things. However, she would say her best position was as a mother to her three girls, a grandmother to her three grandchildren, and a wife to her husband of thirty-two years, because "ministry begins at home."
Her life will forever be cherished by her husband, Johnathan Williams, daughters Shanee' Jackson, Kaela Williams, and Christine Williams, son-in-love Rufus Jackson III, grandchildren Keith Boyd II, Keilan Boyd, and Tavaree Patrick, and a great-grandchild coming soon, Isaiah Boyd (for whom she was most excited). In addition to these, her memory will be cherished by her mother, Gwen Price, brother Kevin Glenn, niece Kasi Gonzalez, sister Denise Broudy, brother-in-love Sanderson Broudy, and niece Erica Broudy (Liam and Riley); Louis and Ezerene Williams, Myrtle Withers, Libby Withers, Derek Jackson, Sandra Reinero, Evelyn Clark, Gregory Wiggins, Kenny Roberts, Deniece Wiggins-Kelly, Keith Kelly, Sr., Jonnee' Bouyer, Donte' Gold, Alesia Stewart, Stefon Gold, Vernicky Gold, Joanette Roberts, Steve and Brenda Robertson, and many others of her Church family.
All services to be held at Brown Funeral Home at 2704 Commerce Circle,
