Graciela "Chela" Valencia, querida madre, abuela, bisabuela, hermana y amiga, falleció el 17 de diciembre de 2025 en Tucson, Arizona, a la edad de 56 años. Nacida el 24 de marzo de 1969 en Agua Prieta, Sonora, México, Chela era conocida por su espíritu vibrante y su genuina calidez, que la hicieron querer por todos.
La trayectoria de Chela en la vida estuvo marcada por su increíble resiliencia y determinación. Aunque tuvo que dejar la escuela temprano para trabajar, afrontó cada reto con una actitud positiva, sin permitir que la adversidad debilitara su espíritu. Su personalidad era una encantadora mezcla de humor, energía extrovertida y una tenacidad que impulsaba su incansable búsqueda de la felicidad. Poseía una envidiable capacidad para sacar lo mejor de cualquier situación, llenando de alegría y risas a sus seres queridos.
Su espíritu aventurero se evidenciaba en sus aficiones e intereses. A Chela le encantaba salir de fiesta, comprar artículos de segunda mano y revenderlos, a la vez que mantenía una activa vida social. Su hogar era simplemente un lugar para descansar; ella prosperaba en el ajetreo de la vida cotidiana, siempre buscando oportunidades y experiencias al aire libre.
El orgullo y la alegría de Chela provenían de su rol como madre y abuela. Su mama, Filiberta Hernandez; sus hijos, Carmen Valencia, Karla Quijada, Isaac Valencia, Yasmine Valencia, Joel Valencia, Jonathan Borjas Valencia y George Borjas Valencia, ocupaban un lugar especial en su corazón, junto con sus nietos: Jonathan Jr. Valencia, Andrea Quijada, Obed Jr. Quijada, Carlos, Josué, Bianca, Ángel, Esteban, Camila, Josiah, Paulette y un nieto en camino. Estos lazos familiares le brindaron una inmensa felicidad, y su amor y apoyo por ellos fue incansable. A Chela le sobreviven sus hermanos Isabel, Ramona, Teresa, Rubén, Ramón, Rosa y Guadalupe, junto con ocho bisnietos y numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas y amigos que atesorarán su memoria. Le precedieron en la muerte su querida hija, Yuriko Valencia, y su padre, Edmundo Franco Cota.
El velorio en honor a Chela se llevará a cabo el 5 de enero de 2026, de 12:00 p. m. a 4:00 p. m., en la Funeraria Martínez de Tucson, Arizona. Al recordar a Graciela "Chela" Valencia, celebramos su inquebrantable amor por su familia, su entusiasmo por la vida y la huella imborrable que dejó en los corazones de quienes la conocieron. La extrañaremos profundamente, pero la recordaremos con cariño.
Graciela "Chela" Valencia, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on December 17, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 56. Born on March 24, 1969, in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, Chela was known for her vibrant spirit.
Chela's journey through life was marked by her incredible resilience and determination. Although she had to leave school early to work, she tackled every challenge with a positive outlook, never allowing adversity to weaken her spirit. Her personality was a delightful mix of humor, outgoing energy, and a stubborn streak that fueled her relentless pursuit of happiness. She possessed an enviable ability to make the best out of any situation, bringing joy and laughter to her loved ones.
Her sense of adventure was evident in her hobbies and interests. Chela enjoyed partying, thrifting, and reselling items, all while maintaining an active social life. Home was merely a place to rest her head; she thrived in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, always seeking opportunities and experiences outside.
Chela's pride and joy came from her role as a mother and grandmother. Her mother, Filiberta Hernandez; children, Carmen Valencia, Karla Quijada, Isaac Valencia, Yasmine Valencia, Joel Valencia, Jonathan Borjas Valencia, and George Borjas Valencia, held a special place in her heart, along with her grandchildren – Jonathan Jr. Valencia, Andrea Quijada, Obed Jr. Quijada, Carlos, Josue, Bianca, Angel, Esteban, Camila, Josiah, Paulette, and one grandchild on the way. Her partner of 24 years Jorge Borjas. These family ties brought her immense happiness, and she was relentless in her love and support for them.
Chela is survived by her siblings Isabel, Ramona, Teresa, Ruben, Ramon, Rosa, and Guadalupe, alongside eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Yuriko Valencia, and her father, Edmundo Franco Cota.
A visitation honoring Chela's life will be held on January 5, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Tucson, Arizona. As we remember Graciela "Chela" Valencia, we celebrate her unwavering love for her family, her zest for life, and the indelible mark she leaves on the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
