Funeral service for Mr. Gradon Louis McQuiston, 93, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 9:00 A.M. Monday, June 26, 2023, at New Light Baptist Church with Rev. Lindle Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in New Light Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the funeral home.
Mr. McQuiston was born on August 19, 1929, in Rochester, NY, and passed away on June 22, 2023, in Monroe. He was a Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. McQuiston was a member of New Light Baptist Church but had been attending Lea Joyner Memorial Methodist Church for the past several years. He retired as the Director of Mail Processing for the US Postal Service. After retirement he enjoyed lots of golf, hunting, fishing, and growing orchids. Mr. McQuiston was preceded in death by his wife, Jean McQuiston; son, Paul Arthur McQuiston; and his parents, Louis and Nellie McQuiston.
Survivors include his son, Gradon Michael McQuiston; daughter, Ellen Pitt (Randy), grandson, Kirk McQuiston; granddaughters, Erin McQuiston (Matt Schroyer), Megan Wills (Randy), Grace Traweek (Zack), and Madeline Pitt (Jack Cockrum); siblings, Richard McQuiston (Kathy), Fred McQuiston (Carole), and Van McQuiston (Judy); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be John Crockett, Marshall English, Kenny Killian, Trent Temples, Trey Temples, and Jason Wilson.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff at Azalea Estates for their love and compassionate care of Mr. McQuiston.
Memorials may be made to New Light Baptist Church or to Lea Joyner Memorial Methodist Church.
