Grady Mike Yankie, 65 of Waco, TX gained his wings on Friday, July 5, 2024 after a long battle with heart disease.

Services will be at 11:00am, Thursday, July 11, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Burchfield officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at China Spring Cemetery, in China Spring, Texas.

Mike was born May 22, 1959, to Warren A. Yankie and Patsy Peck (Morris) in Waco, TX and graduated from University High in 1977. Mike later went to TSTC for Refrigerant Transition & Recovery and is a certified Universal Technician. He was a member of Williams Creek Baptist Creek, Mart, TX.

Mike loved the country life, since he was a young boy, he always had fond memories of spending time with his cousins at the Yankie place in China Spring. And later convinced his mother Patsy to move out to Prairie Hill, TX. He took great pleasure in cooking and eating! Mike did not mind experimenting with food and loved to include Mom for taste testing. She would tell him it was good, even when it wasn’t.

Mike had a love for classic rock and enjoyed playing his guitar and talking (or debating) with friends. He’d say, “we just agree to disagree”. When he believed he was right about something, you’d have a hard time convincing him otherwise. Family and friends will miss him greatly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren Yankie, Patsy Peck, Bob Peck (Stepdad), and uncles, Benny Mack Yankie, and Grady Eugene Morris and (paternal and maternal) grandparents and his rescue kitty FurBall.

Survivors include his sister Deena Yankie Myers and husband Michael Myers of Waco. nephews Justin E. Sanders (Karen) of Prairie Hill, TX, Richard W. Sanders (Meagan) of Atlanta, GA, Michael Myers Jr. (Lindsey) of Meridian, TX, and niece Christina Bergeron (Henry) of Lewisville, TX, numerous cousins, great-nieces, great-nephew, and his beloved dog Buster.

The family would like to give special thanks to family and friends Bobby, Glen, and Opal for all your support and visits these last few months, also special thanks to Providence CHF Clinic, and Community/Providence Hospice, for their care.
