Grady Allison Mitchell

Grady Allison Mitchell, age 95, passed away at his home in Charlotte, Tennessee, on Monday, June 6, 2022. He was born in Old Hickory, Tennessee, on May 15, 1927, to Judge Sherman Mitchell and Zilla (Carter) Mitchell. He was self-employed as an outboard motor mechanic and farm manager. Grady served the United States Navy, as a Seaman First Class. Having bravely fought in World War II, it is appropriate that he passed away on the 78th anniversary of D-Day. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, Judge and Zilla Mitchell; wife, Madolyn (Johnson) Mitchell; brother, Edgar Mitchell; and sisters, Doris Osborne and Lilly Bowker Higdon. He is survived by his sons, Ronnie (Ann) Mitchell, Donnie (Paulette) Mitchell, Johnnie (Lisa) Mitchell; nine grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral service for Grady Mitchell will be held in the Chapel at Cheatham County Funeral Home on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 12 noon with Greg Smith and Donnie Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be held in the same location on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, from 4pm to 7pm and on Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 10am until the hour of service. Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Mitchell, Eddie Knight, Robin Mitchell, Jason Cathey, Ben Sheler, and Bailey Braswell. Grady will be laid to rest at Jackson's Chapel Cemetery in Charlotte, Dickson, Tennessee on June 9, 2022, with military honors.
