Gail Mitchell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Henderson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. - Springfield on Mar. 9, 2026.
Gail Alexander Mitchell passed away on February 20, 2026. When the lord came for her, Gail peacefully entered into eternal rest. Gail was born on May 25, 1959 in Springfield, MA to the late Rufus Alexander and Gloria Kinsey Alexander.

Gail was very kind and made sure to express her love to family and friends whenever she got the chance. She spent most of her time close to her family, who were all very dear to her. She also enjoyed spending special time with her two beloved nieces, Geraldine and Alexis Alexander. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and sister-in-law. Her loss will be felt in the hearts of all her family and friends.

In 1986 Gail married the love of her life and best friend, George Mitchell. They spent over 40 wonderful years together and never tired of each other's company.

Gail is predeceased by her three brothers, Rufus Junior, Garrett, and David Dean Alexander.

She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Charles "Torrey" Alexander and George "Joey" Alexander, and his wife, Erin Alexander, all of Springfield, MA; and her two grandsons, Adanti Barnes and George "Junie" Nazario. She is survived by her two brothers, Robert L Alexander and his wife Patrice of Springfield, MA, and Tarry Alexander and his wife Cathy of Chesapeake, VA; three aunts, Virgina Walker, Roberta Walker, and Aberdeen Salter, all of Alabama; her two dear nieces Geraldine and Alexis Alexander, and a host of cousins and friends. She will be missed forever in our hearts.
