Graham Lowe Obituary

Graham Phelan Lowe, Jr., 93, of Damascus died Sunday, August 24, 2025, at his residence. He was born October 7, 1931, to the late Graham and Neva Lowe of Fort Valley, GA.

Graham graduated from Fort Valley High School then attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega. After serving his country in the army at the end of the Korean War, he continued his education earning multiple degrees in French and educational leadership.

Graham's passion was coaching, mentoring and teaching young men and women to reach their full God given potential. His career in education covered 56 years in both public and private schools across the state of Georgia. He taught Physical Education and French, coached football and basketball at Albany Middle/High School before he began his leadership career as Headmaster of Deerfield School in Albany. His next steps led him to Westwood School as headmaster and coach before stepping out into a new role at Calvary Baptist as the head of school and basketball coach. Before retiring in 2012, he returned home to the southwest Georgia area to serve at Southwest Georgia Academy and finished out at Deerfield-Windsor.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Shearouse Lowe, siblings Ruby and Marshall Young, Rose Thomason, Jimmy Cook and granddaughter Jessica Crenshaw Roberson. He is survived by his sister, Susan and Billy Alford, sister-in-law Mary Cook, brother-in-law Robert Thomason, his children Mike and Kay Lowe, Mary and Seth Perron, and Allen and Piper Lowe; grandchildren, Michael and Erinn Lowe, Erin and James Scarborough, Matt and Callie Lowe, Shane Roberson (Jessica), Harrison and Meg Lowe, Tanner Lowe, Tyler Lowe, Taylor Perron and Landon Lowe; and his 14 great grandchildren as well as multiple nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Blakely First Methodist Church, with Rev. Tucker Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to services from 9-10 AM. A special visitation will also be held on Monday, September 1, 2025, from 5-7PM, in the Gym at Deerfield-Windsor Academy. Pallbearers being asked to serve are Michael Lowe, Matt Lowe, Harrison Lowe, Tanner Lowe, Tyler Lowe, and James Scarborough. Honorary pallbearer is Cliff Bush.

The family requested in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in honor of Graham & Betty Lowe. You may choose, Deerfield-Windsor/Graham & Betty Lowe Scholarship, Westwood School - Camilla, GA, or Blakely First Methodist Church.
