Russon Mortuary & Crematory - SyracuseGrant Sedgwick Goodsell returned peacefully to his heavenly home on December 1, 2025.
Grant was born on June 18, 2007, to David Allen Goodsell and Jennifer Ann Sedgwick Goodsell. He grew up in Syracuse, Utah where he is loved by everyone. Grant is outgoing, fun, brave, strong, loyal, determined, persevering, and kind.
As a little boy Grant was very social and enjoyed visiting friends, family and neighbors. He was not afraid to ask for things, especially popsicles. At 6 years old he was diagnosed with cancer and started a journey that lasted 12 adventure-filled years. As part of his cancer journey, he was brave and chose to say goodbye to his left arm as the best way to get back to the things he loved – friends, swimming, bikes, skateboards, and learning to throw a baseball.
As a teenager Grant loved football and was excited to play for Syracuse High School as a sophomore and spend time with the team as a manager when he was a senior. He was a loyal BYU fan and was chosen as a True Blue Hero in 2023. One of his favorite football adventures was going to a Pittsburgh Steelers game with his dad and some of his best friends.
For Grant, the next best thing to being with friends and family was being with them on a boat. Our annual trips to Flaming Gorge were the best part of his summer. Over the years he was determined to try skiing and knee-boarding but discovered he loved wake-surfing and persevered at becoming a really great surfer.
Grant loves his friends and was always proud of the things they accomplished. It has been a great blessing for him to get to talk almost every week with those who are serving missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
We have been blessed to have Grant in our lives and we will miss him, but we know that he is safe, happy, and ready for his next journey.
Grant is survived by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law Audrey and Jordan, brother Christian, and sister Eliza.
Grant was blessed with fantastic caregivers at Primary Children’s Hospital and wonderful adventures with Make-A-Wish Utah and Nixon Strong Foundation. In lieu of flowers we invite you to make a donation to these generous organizations.
