Grant Keaton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davis Greenlawn Funeral Chapels and Cemeteries on Feb. 6, 2026.
Grant Keaton was born in Morristown, New Jersey on October 28, 1986. Grant was an endlessly curious person whose hobbies included collecting records and Nintendo 64 games, watching horror movies, playing tennis, listening to "old time" radio dramas, and making visual art. He was also a passionate New York Mets fan who made friends across the nation as a member of the 7Line Army fan club.

Grant attended public school in Sugar Land, Texas and was one of the first graduates of Hightower High School's Computer Technology Academy magnet program. His diverse interests showed even as a teenager. He was on the school tennis team, played in both a hardcore punk and a church praise band, and was an enthusiastic member of First Presbyterian Church of Sugar Land's youth group.

His greatest enthusiasm, however, was cooking. He attended the University of Houston's Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership. He almost immediately began working for Aramark, the University of Houston's dining vendor and quickly rose to the rank of chef. After leaving U of H, he worked in fine dining at Benjy's. However, his favorite style was American bar food. Through his company, Cambio Culinary Concepts, he created gourmet hamburgers, biscuits, Mac and Cheese and other classic American favorites. He also served as a consulting chef for bars and restaurants across Houston. His family, who are all passionate cooks, remember how he could instantly tell which spice was missing from a dish or the sense of pride that they felt when he tasted one of their meals and said "that's restaurant quality."

He is survived by: Kevin and Lori Keaton (parents), William Keaton and Rachel Hugenberg (his brother and his sister-in-law), Dirk Keaton and Sofya Leonova (his brother and his partner), and Martin Leonova (his nephew).
