Barbourville, Ky. - Greene Bingham, 85, of Tuttle, passed away peacefully at home, February 16, 2026. Greene was born November 19, 1940, in
Walker, Ky., to Rev. Paul Bingham, Sr and Alice Messer Bingham. He was raised in Tuttle, a community he loved and remained devoted to throughout his life.Greene graduated from Knox Central High School and later met the love of his life, Betty Bolton, in Portage, Indiana. They were united in marriage on August 23, 1969, and shared a strong, steady, and loving relationship that stood as an example to many.
A lifelong farmer at heart, Greene's favorite hobby was farming and raising cattle. He also worked many years as a truck driver for Roadway before retiring. In retirement, he enjoyed serving as a bus driver for Knox County Public Schools. Known as the family prankster and jokester, Greene loved making others laugh. He was well liked and respected in both his community and his church, New Bethel Baptist Church.
Greene believed in honesty, respect, and hard work. He taught his children and grandchildren the value of a strong work ethic and always expected them to give their very best effort in whatever they chose to do. Above all, time spent with his wife, siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant the most to him. He will be dearly missed by his family and community.
Preceding Greene in death are his beloved wife, Betty Bolton Bingham; his parents, Rev. Paul Bingham, Sr. and Alice Messer Bingham; his sisters, Judy Cobb and Mabel Helen McKenzie; his brother-in-law, Earl Smith; and his son-in-law, Rickey Reeves.
Surviving Greene are his children, Shelly Bingham Reeves and Keith Bingham (Misty); grandchildren, Jonathan Bingham, Samantha Young (Quentin), and Ryan Reeves (Sadie); great-grandchildren, Evan Young, Ella Young, Lucas Bingham, Emery Young, and Beau Reeves; siblings, Stella Bea Smith Bowling (John), Paul Bingham, Jr. (Wanda), and James Bingham (Christie); brothers-in-law, WM Mann Cobb and Dave McKenzie; and dear family friend, Jim Noe. The Bingham family would also like to express their gratitude for the loving care Greene received from Denise Grubb, Kathy Grubb, Debbie Thomson, and Payton Shepherd.
The Bingham family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home on Thursday evening, February 19, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. On Friday, February 20, visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour of 2:00 PM at New Bethel Baptist Church, Cranes Nest. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery. Randy Johnson will officiate, accompanied by Reverend Mann Cobb. Musical tributes will be performed by Sarah Harbin and Denise and Danny Grubb. The family has chosen as casket bearers Jonathan Bingham, Brian Noe, Jim Noe, Ryan Reeves, Eddie Smith, and Micah Nicholson.
