Greg Herschel LaFore at age 65, passed away in Bakersfield, CA on May 23, 2024.
Greg was born on November 12, 1958 in Midland, Michigan. Son of Edwin and Betty LaFore. Greg received his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering. Greg married his wife, Yorleny LaFore, on May 2, 1992 in Bakersfield, CA. They had just celebrated their 32nd marriage anniversary. In January of 2019, Greg retired as a Senior Air Quality Inspector after dedicating nearly 30 years of service for San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District.
Greg loved to spend time on various golf courses in Bakersfield, CA. He also loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping at Convict Lake in Mammoth Lakes, CA. He would fish at Convict Lake and Crowley Lake for hours. Greg was known for his woodwork craftsmanship. He would build things like wooden coasters, wine racks, cabinets, canoes, cornhole boards, and any other projects people brought his way. Greg was a very simple man when it came down to his eating habits. Meat and potatoes were his go to. He enjoyed cooking at home for his family.
Greg is survived by his wife, Yorleny LaFore, his daughter, Cristina LaFore, and his sister, Krista Steffes. Preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Betty LaFore.
Services will be held on June 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park located at 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield, CA 93313.
