With a humble grin and a sparkle in his eyes, Greg Liggins Sr. would like to announce that his earthly journey concluded on March 6, 2025. Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on June 7, 1955, Greg was a loving and dedicated family man, a funny joke-teller, and a man who held his family's happiness as his highest priority.
From his early years in Cheyenne and Denver, to his retirement in Aurora, Greg's life was filled with joy and laughter. His career in technology as a Technical Support engineer was fulfilling, but Greg's true passions were much more personal. He had an undying love for travel, jazz concerts, and most importantly, spending quality shopping time with his granddaughters, Taiya and Mya. His dedication extended to coaching baseball and basketball, attending sporting events, hosting family picnics and the annual 4th of July BBQs that brought joy to the neighborhood. Greg's love for family was palpable, especially during Christmas holidays when he reveled in the happiness of his grandchildren. As the poet, Maya Angelou once said, "I sustain myself with the love of family," and Greg truly embodied this sentiment.
Greg leaves behind his loving wife, Cynthia and children, Natriece (Kris), Greg Jr. (Christie), granddaughters, Taiya, Mya, Jalina, and Maliyah, sister, Denise (Douglass), nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and extended family members who will miss his infectious laughter and endless cheer. His parents, Nathaniel and Anna Liggins, along with his in-laws, Vera and Paul Sr. Rucker, preceded him in what we trust was a joyous reunion.
Greg would want each of us to remember him with happiness, not sadness. He'd want to be remembered at that Chatfield State Park picnic on 6/6/2024, celebrating his birthday, or at the Brian Culbertson concert, organizing the entire event, or just being the ever-caring person who would call to check on everyone. He'd want us to celebrate his life, not mourn his departure. So, let's honor his wish. Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 11:00am MDT at Eisenhower Chapel, 293 Roslyn Street, Denver, Colorado, 80230.
In his own words, Greg would say, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." We invite you to leave your memories of Greg and upload photos to his memorial page. Let's remember Greg for the humble, funny, dedicated, and loving man he was and will forever be in our hearts.
