Greg A. Miller, age 65 of Laurel, Nebraska died on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at the Providence Medical Center in Wayne after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in his hometown of Fonda, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home of Laurel.
Greg was born on March 22, 1960 to Gerald and Elane (Mertz) Miller. He grew up in Fonda, Iowa with his two brothers and four sisters. As a young man he enlisted in the Army, serving as a tactical Wire Operations Specialist with the 194th.
Greg married Julie Chase and together they raised three children. Greg also served as a volunteer firefighter during those years. Greg had a lifelong love of Iowa and later Nebraska football, fishing, and hunting. One of his proudest accomplishments was starting a softball team for the kids not picked for the regular teams. Greg was together with Kimberly Lee Wales for 14 years and they were officially married on March 16, 2022 in Laurel, NE.
Greg is survived by his wife Kim; children Franny (Bill) Mohrhauser of Adel, IA, Anna (Brad) Wilson of Fonda, IA, and Nick Miller of Fonda, IA; step-children Dena Mehrens (Dan Keifer) of Laurel, Apryl (Chris) Kizzire of Emmet, NE; siblings Sandy (John) Kramer of Pocahontas, IA, Bruce (Teresa) Miller of Alta, IA, Les (Pam) Miller of Laurens, IA; 10 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Elane Miller; three sisters, Chris, Marcia, and Brenda, and a stepson.
