Gregg Greaser Obituary

Gregg Alan Greaser was born May 5, 1956, in Davenport IA to Harold and Edna (Johnson) Greaser. He passed on December 22, 2024. Gregg was a mischievous youngster growing up in Cedar Rapids. Many shenanigans were had in the Cedar Hills area with buddies Dave and Mike. In 1968 he joined the Emerald Knights Drum and Bugle corps. Gregg served as Drum Major during the '74 season, but he preferred playing French horn and causing havoc with Tim and Kirk. He met his future wife, Patty Hagerman there as well. Gregg graduated in 1974 from Jefferson High School. He had a variety of jobs over the years, from paper boy and Kmart associate to building pig houses. His final employment was with Sam's Club as a forklift driver for 20 years. He and Patty reunited in 1991. Upon a promise to marry by the end of the millennium, they wed on October 16, 1999. He became a stepfather to Kalli and spent time playing board games, basketball, and throwing her heaters during Kids league season. He was her confidant and rarely spilled the beans to Mom. Gregg enjoyed golfing with Mark and Randy, camping, playing cards, campfires with Dennis, and day trips with his wife after they retired. In the fall, the Hawkeyes and insufferable Bears graced the TV. He was determined to conquer the elusive perfect meatloaf, though never succeeded and conceded his wife's was the best. Rock music was his favorite, and he thoroughly enjoyed listening to it, whether rattling the house or deafening his ears with headphones. Gregg is survived by his wife Patty; daughter, Kalli Hoben and son-in-law Derek; grandchildren, James and Ellie; brother, Doug; sister-in-law, Trudy Greaser; mother-in-law, Sally Hagerman; in-laws, Larry and Jill Hagerman and Jim and Alice Hagerman; as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Gary; and father-in-law, Richard Hagerman. Private family services are planned. I worked with GREASER as we called at Sams Club. He dropped my items from the steel for me. Yes he was a jokester but I loved working with him. He was always willing to help you out. He will be missed by many. I had seen him in the past yr and it was nice to say hi. Rest in peace.
