Gregg Shire Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Givnish Funeral Home - Cinnaminson on Sep. 17, 2025.
Gregg Shire, 73 years old, passed away without pain on September 7th 2025. He is survived by his wife Ann, daughter Chelsea and her husband Chris, sister Rhonda and her husband Jurek, his family by marriage in Scotland, his lifelong friends at Loringer's Automotive, his church family at Harbor Baptist, and his beloved cat Bella. He had been married for 48 years, after meeting the girl he crossed an ocean to marry, a lass from Scotland on holiday in the states. Gregg had a big personality, quirky sense of humor, and a kind heart that leant itself to those in need; at times it was the combo of these three that resulted in a series of good-natured antics. Gregg was a jack of all trades, doing a little bit of everything: sales, mechanic work, landscaping, antiquing, and being a stay-at-home dad to raise his daughter. While living in Scotland he had several jobs that left a lasting impact on him. Working as a chef at a Mediterranean restaurant he further developed his life-long passion for cooking that had him creating recipes for those he loved. He liked to recall another of his jobs working security at a concert arena, where he rubbed shoulders with David Bowie who thanked him for all his hard work. However, of all the jobs that Gregg had, his true calling was that of a Salesman; whether it was with cars, at the flea market, or at his various other places of business, he was always conducting a deal. What's more it was a role that he extended into his personal life; nothing made him more pleased than a bargain or scoring a good deal. He spent much of his free time at Loringer's Automotive, and it's hard to say if this was more to work or a chance to socialize with friends, but it was the right place to be either way. He always sought out the type of work and hobbies that allowed him to interact with the community. If trading favors was a currency he was always out of pocket. He networked not only to establish good contacts, but also to trade good stories. He was a born-again Christian, who felt thankful that God had found him during these past few years. Alongside attending weekly church services, he met weekly to share a cup of coffee and discuss the good book with his bible study teacher and dear friend. Finally, by Gregg's request his service was for close family only. For those who truly knew Gregg they will understand he did not want any fuss on his way out. Unless of course he could be sent to space, then his final resting place would be out of this world.
