Gregor Borchardt

July 15, 1939 - August 20, 2024, Gregor Borchardt, a dedicated family man and passionate history enthusiast, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024.

 Born in Pinneberg, Germany, just outside of Hamburg, on July 15, 1939, Greg grew up in Elmshorn before moving to the United States as a teenager. He attended Eastport High School and pursued pre-med studies at Syracuse University. Greg made significant contributions to pharmaceutical sales, beginning with Warner Chilcott, where his expertise and dedication earned him the prestigious Elmer Bobst Award in 1972, the highest accolade in his field. Throughout his career, Greg also won multiple other awards, including trips to Acapulco and New York City, reflecting his exceptional performance and dedication. He later worked with Boehringer Ingelheim and transitioned to retail sales and management in the mid-1980s.A lover of history and politics, Greg often engaged in spirited discussions about historical events and their impact on the modern world. He was also dedicated to his community, volunteering as an usher at St. Louis Church in Pittsford, NY, for over 20 years. 

His commitment to service and connection was evident in his active involvement and generous spirit.Greg met his wife, Elizabeth “Kenny” Peck, while attending Syracuse University. They built a life together in Rochester, NY, raising their family on Dale Road in Brighton. Though they divorced nearly 40 years ago, they remained friends, and Kenny’s nursing expertise proved invaluable in navigating the health care system during the last few months of Greg’s life as his health rapidly declined. The family is deeply grateful for her substantial support during this difficult time.In his later years, Greg found companionship with Donna, with whom he shared a life full of grace and love. 

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Donna for her unwavering care and companionship over more than 30 years, and especially for her devotion in continuing to visit Greg during his time in the hospital and rehab, despite her own health issues that affected her mobility.

He is survived by his sons, Greg Borchardt (Melanie Paul) and Kurt Borchardt (Eriko Fujita); his brother Duke Borchardt (Nancy); his beloved grandsons, Kazuki and Cameron Borchardt; his nephew Marc Borchardt; and his niece Lisa Baker. Greg was predeceased by his parents, Martha and Karl Borchardt.

On Tuesday August 27, 2024 at 1:15pm, friends may meet at the main gate of White Haven Memorial Park. A funeral service will be held in the Creation Chapel at 1:30pm. Entombment Maplewood Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to Greg’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in his memory. Greg’s family finds comfort in imagining him enjoying a cold beer and ginger ale—simple pleasures he fondly mentioned in his final days.
