Gregoria (née Lopez) Serrano, 82, of Bensenville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, at Elmhurst Hospital. Born November 26, 1943, in Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Antonia (née Escobedo) Lopez, and widow of her dear husband, Álvaro Serrano. She will be missed dearly.
Gregoria was an employee of Semblex until retirement. She was a member of the St. Charles Borromeo of Melrose Park, Illinois. She was also a wonderful housewife and raised 4 wonderful children and 8 grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family and was extremely hospitable towards anyone she met.
She is survived by her sons, Álvaro Serrano Jr., Juan Serrano and his wife Heidi Serrano, and Ernesto Serrano and his wife Cynthia Serrano. She is survived by her daughter, Rosa Serrano. Her grandchildren are Andrew Serrano, Mark Serrano, Christopher Serrano, Stephanie Serrano, Allison Serrano, Hannah Serrano, Nathan Serrano, and Mathew Serrano.
A visitation will be held at Geils Funeral Home, 180 South York Road, Bensenville, IL 60106, on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. A final viewing will take place at the funeral home the following day from 8:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. with a procession to Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 1637 North 37th Ave., Melrose Park, IL 60160, for a Mass of Catholic Burial. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. It is requested that patrons wear colors, especially purple (her favorite color), during the visitation.
