Gregory Barnes Obituary

Gregory Barnes
April 1, 1953 - July 14, 2023
Gregory (Gregg) Shannon Barnes, 70, of Bulverde, TX passed away peacefully on July 14, 2023. He was born on April 1, 1953 to Gerald Barnes and Donna Newman Barnes in Berwyn, IL. His departure has left a void in the hearts of those that knew him and loved him.
He served in the USAF from 1972-1975 during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he resided in El Paso, TX and earned his Bachelor's degree in Finance from UTEP. He worked for DataPoint until it closed and then worked for the DoD as a Bank Manager in Japan and Guam for 9 years. He then returned to San Antonio and worked for Pabst Brewing Company where he retired in 2015. Over the years, his careers gave him lifelong friends that also loved and will miss him.
He was happiest when he was on the golf course. He was an avid sports fan, but golf always came first. He loved his Spurs and in spite of the Detroit Lions record, he was always a loyal fan.
The love of his life was Susan Wiley Jenkins whom he married on February 27, 2010. The short time they were able to spend together was worth the wait. He adored her and loved her until his last breath. Once they found each other, they were inseparable. He loved his family fiercely and his pride and joy were his children.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, daughters Amber Barnes Brown and husband Tony, Jenny Nuccio and husband Sean, and their children Jadon, Sophie and Selah whom he cherished, his sons Logan Barnes and Matt Jenkins and wife Luci. In addition, his sister Kathy Feldbauer, Karen (Mickey) and Ron Tower, Bruce Campbell and all of their families.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Mother and beloved Brother Steve.
There is a Memorial service being held in his honor on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. The location will be at CBCB in Bulverde. The address is 7100 US Hwy 281 North, Spring Branch, TX 78070.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made in his honor to: ImaniCollective at https://imanicollective-ourimpact.org/donate or World Venture https://give.worldventure.com and donate directly to the Bara Bara Boys.

I remember as kids my parents would come to visit, and we would play in the basement. Even though you were only one year older than me, I always looked up to you. After we got older I always thought you looked a movie star, and always thought you were one of the coolest guys I knew. Well, we all know how life happens and we only seen each other at family reunions and once in a while when you would come to Michigan. I was always wondering how life was going for you. Well a year ago I was given one of the Greatest Blessings, I was asked if I would come to Texas and Talk to you about God and Baptize you. You were so Gracious and welcoming to me, it was a wonderful time of Fellowship with you and your Family. We brought Jesus into our little get together. Jesus was there and you recommitted your Life to Him, and He accepted you into the family of God. I cannot express how Happy I am that you are now with Jesus forever and we will all have the most wonderful reunion one day in Heaven. I Thank you Gregg for allowing me to be the one to lead you back to God. Till we meet again my Cousin and Brother in Christ.

To my little brother I will never forget our childhood together. You were my best friend and champion. Our summer days playing baseball from sun up to sun down. We were a unit you the pitcher and me the catcher. Those memories will never fade. I love you and will always remember my hero
