Gregory Auber Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kepner Funeral Home - Elm Grove on Apr. 24, 2025.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Gregory Auber, who died peacefully on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the age of 73 in Wheeling, WV.
Greg was born on November 5, 1951 in Wheeling, WV, to the late James and Mabel Weeks Auber. He was a retired coal miner and self-employed carpenter.
Greg is survived by his loving wife Donna Auber, his two children Tina (Tom Riggle) and Gregory (Amber Olnick) and two grandchildren, Cassie Auber Stickel and Allison Auber Stickel (who he endearingly called 'Cacky' and 'Puff' since their childhood), his three brothers Tim (Kitty) and Matt (Marge) of Wheeling, Doug (Judy) of St. Clairsville, and a cat he grew to love named Sadie.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers Danny and Jack and one sister Kay Popovich.
Greg is known for giving a unique nickname to all the friends he cared for, usually accompanied with light teasing and jokes that always brought a smile to those he loved. He enjoyed his good friends at Elm Grove Eagles and Wakims, as well as his two close friends Tommy Gump and Bill (Gobble) Turkaly. While he will be greatly missed by his friends and family, thoughts of him will be carried by those he loved with memories that will last a lifetime.
A celebration of life for friends and family will be held on Sunday, May 18 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, at the Elm Grove Eagles with lunch provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lupus Research Alliance or invites you to honor Greg's memory by sharing your favorite memory of him in a testimonial below.
Arrangements by Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling (304-242-2311).
